Its officially summer in the Okanagan and I have been noticing several of my clients have been showing up this past while feeling very overwhelmed with life. I too find it challenging this time of year, juggling many balls with the seasons changing and adding all the activities of summer onto our schedule. When summer hits in the beautiful Okanagan, people automatically go into play mode. It can be a challenge to stay focused and the To Do List can quickly take away the joy in your day. It always amazes me how simple “Fun Do’s” added into my day can quickly bring back the joy. Here are some of my favourites:
Lighten Up. Find the humour in an awkward situation. Take in some sunlight whenever you can. Daydream. Face challenges eagerly. Look through the eyes of possibilities. Relish adventure. Forgive, not only others but yourself as well. Cut yourself some slack. Give someone a hug. Take a nap. Go for a bike ride. Smell the flowers. Walk in the rain instead of complaining about it. Re-invent how you do routine. Take a risk. Make a wish. Send a little love note. Walk the dog with an joyful attitude. Surrender to life’s challenges. Accept love when it’s in front of you. Be silly. Respect the Earth. Dance more often. Let it go. Follow your heart. Practice Gratitude. Find your calm. Breathe deeply. Now breathe deeply again. Stand tall. Get out in Nature. Pull some weeds. Pursue your dreams. Be in the moment. Smile. Laugh. Spread some Joy!
I hope these tips will help you keep perspective on those days when life throws you curve balls and you notice your Joy tank is depleted. Help me spread the Joy and let me know what works for you.
In Joy!
Geri
